Canton Tower
Affectionately nicknamed "Xiaomanyao" (meaning "Slim Waist" in Chinese) for its elegant, tapering shape, is the tallest tower in South China and one of the most iconic landmarks in Guangzhou. Standing at 600 meters tall, it is located on the south bank of the Pearl River, offering panoramic views of the entire city. Completed in 2010 to coincide with the Guangzhou Asian Games, the tower has since become a symbol of the city’s modernization and innovation.

A Feast of Traditions and Customs
The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It’s a traditional Chinese festival full of history and meaning. People celebrate it to remember Qu Yuan, a great poet in ancient China.
People also hang mugwort leaves on doors. It’s believed to bring good luck and drive away bad things. The fresh smell of mugwort adds a special flavor to the festival.
Eating zongzi is a must during the festival. These sticky rice dumplings are wrapped in bamboo leaves. They can be filled with meat, red beans or egg yolks. Making zongzi together has become a family tradition for many.
Dragon boat races are another exciting custom. Teams row their boats quickly while beating drums. The loud cheers and splashing water make the festival full of energy. It’s a great way to show teamwork and courage.
The Dragon Boat Festival is not just about food or games. It’s a time to keep our culture alive and share love with family.
